April 22, 2013 Burlington, VT – Champlain Valley Dispensary, Inc. is proud to announce that their Green Team will be joining Green Up Vermont on Saturday, May 4th at the Burlington Waterfront.
A team of over 20 volunteers will be joining Champlain Valley Dispensary, or CVD, at Burlington’s waterfront, joining forces with Green Up Vermont, Vermont’s annual
CVD’s Executive Director, Shayne Lynn, a born-and-raised Vermonter this will be one of many years volunteering for Green Up Day. “I’m looking forward to making Green Up Day an annual event for CVD. We are excited to be opening our doors in June and becoming a part of the Burlington community”, Shayne Lynn.
Vermont was the first state to designate a day to clean up the entire state.
Started in 1970 by Gov. Deane C. Davis, this unique tradition continues with thousands of Vermonters taking care of Vermont. Green Up Day is a statewide event that brings community volunteers of all ages together to clean up our neighborhoods and public lands. Held every year on the first Saturday of May, this event is family friendly, and a great way to get involved in our community.
How can YOU volunteer for Green Up Vermont day?
You can go to the “Participate” page of the Green Up Vermont website, and click on your county. You will see the contact name, phone number and email for you town’s coordinator. You can contact them for information on where to pick up Green Up bags and for other events that your town may be putting on.
Green Up Vermont’s mission is to “promote the stewardship of our state’s natural landscape and waterways and the livability of our communities by involving people in Green Up Day and raising public awareness about the benefits of a litter-free environment”.
